Hope For The Holidays

From the ladies of Seekerville!
Check out our latest project.

I had so much fun writing a story for this collection. Writing a novella is not as easy as it sounds. I had the hardest time remembering a 20-25K story is all about the ROMANCE! LOL!

HER CHRISTMAS COWBOY shares the romance between RJ Westin and Shayna Leon from my debut book, ROCKY MOUNTAIN HERO. RJ and Shayna both learned hard lessons early in life. Through it all, they found hope in God's forgiveness and discovered His love knows no bounds.

Check it out on Amazon!!

Amateur Sleuths Stumped by Startling Shooting and Suspicious Animal Attack in Trapline
Established Colorado Author Mark Stevens Releases Third Allison Coil Mystery this November

DENVER, COLO. — Shady politics mire the stunning landscape of Colorado in Mark Stevens’ latest Allison Coil Mystery, Trapline (November 8, Midnight Ink Books).

In the third installment of the thrilling series, a badly chewed-up, partial corpse is the last thing hunting guide Allison Coil expects to find on a routine trip to the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. Authorities conclude the corpse to be the result of a mountain lion attack, but Allison smells foul play.

Simultaneously, a routine campaign stop for U.S. Senate candidate Tom Lamott—a controversial candidate as a result of his pro-immigration standpoint—ends with a startling shooting that lands Lamott in the hospital. Reporter Duncan Bloom, who was covering the event, now finds himself on the chase for the attacker.

Investigations that begin with the coincidence of occurring on the same day quickly intertwine in a captivating dual narrative that exposes greed, hatred and the dark depths of human indifference.

Trapline also weaves in the hot-button issues of for-profit prisons and immigration to further spark the story.

Mark Stevens will be signing his latest book Trapline at Longmont's Barbed Wire Books, 504 Main Street, on Saturday, Nov. 22 from 3-5 p.m.

Tagged In The Writing Process Blog Tour

I don’t usually do blog tours, but when romantic suspense and adventure author, L.A. Sartor invited me to participate, what could I say? Yes, of course. Take a moment and check out L.A.’s adventure release, Stone of Heaven, Book 1 of her Carswell Adventure Series.  We’re talking exotic setting and seat-of-your-pants suspense – the stuff great reading is made of!

Thanks for the opportunity to talk about my writing, L.A.!!!

Now, on to my Writing Process...

Q: What are you working on?

Audra: I’m currently working on the third book of my Circle D series. Long Road Home features the oldest Davidson brother, Nick. He’s carrying a big load of guilt on his broad shoulders and thinks he can run from it all by following the rodeo circuit while sitting on the back of a bucking bull. He’s had all the feeling kicked out of him until Rachel Roskovitch roars into his life…driving his truck. Rachel vows she’ll never trust a cowboy; Nick knows he’ll never trust anyone. The snowstorm raging around the truck has nothing on the storm of emotions swirling around Nick and Rachel until God’s love shakes things up and opens their eyes to the truth they’ve both been running from.

The second book, Second Chance Ranch just came out in March and Long Road Home will be out late fall.

Q: How does your work differ from others of its genre?
Audra: I’d like to say no one else would want to be me, but that’s cheating. I guess, my work is a combination of gritty cowboy ranching and mushy sentimentality. Oh, I’m such a cream puff when it comes to sappy love stories! Yes, I said it, sappy love stories!! I want the rugged, rough cowboy who has attitude rivaling a herd of crotchety cattle to get knocked off kilter by an unassuming female who has just enough compassion and innocence to rock his world before he ever sees it coming. Deep, forever kind of love. Nothing better than that.

Q: Why do you write what you do?
Audra: Good question. I’m published in inspirational romance and love it. When I began my novel journey, I looked up to historical romance writers like Mary Jo Putney, Rosemary Rogers and especially, Kathleen E Woodiwiss. They created story worlds and characters I wanted to be a part of. As years passed, I realized they were writing their stories – they didn’t need me to add to their perfection : ) I never achieved the depth of character they commanded. I’d always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and when I discovered inspirational romance favorites like Catherine Palmer and Susan May Warren, I knew I’d found a genre I could dedicate my life to.

Q: How does your writing process work?

Audra: Like many romance authors, I hold a day job that ties up a good chunk of time. But, I’m fortunate to love my work at our county Extension office where I’m surrounded by more opportunities for research and inspiration than I could ever hope for. Cowboys, ranching, Colorado…I can find answers to most of my setting questions right in the file drawers holding our fact sheets. This alone helps keep the creative juices flowing. As far as the actual writing goes, I covet the two hours a night where I shut the door to my office keeping family at bay and lose myself in the world of my imagination.

New Year brings revisions!

It's snowing in Longmont, Colorado. Nothing like the wicked snow and cold most of the rest of the country is getting. This is more a light, constant flaking that has given us around 4" since the pre-dawn hours. I love it.

Our snowy weather gives me the perfect excuse to sit down and work on the revisions to my latest book, Second Chance Ranch. It's been 3 years since we met Gabe Davidson, (Love Inspired Books) and the folks at the Circle D Ranch. Gabe met Melanie Hunter and her son, Jason and found Happily Ever After over a broken down truck and a church barbeque.

Now it's time to tell Zac Davidson's story. We didn't see Zac in Rocky Mountain Hero, but we learned he's the youngest son of Grace and Martin Davidson, a wild child, and the Chief Financial Officer of Davidson Enterprises. We met Jennifer O'Reilly, his childhood friend and sweet nurse with a big heart...who also holds the upper hand on a ranch Zac's been wanting to buy.

Their story tells of love and sacrifice...and of course hurt beyond compare.

Look for Second Chance Ranch early 2014 on Amazon. Stop by Seekerville on Feb 6th for my monthly blog post and I'll be debuting my gorgeous cover!

As the launch date approaches, I'll be having a contest for copies of Second Chance Ranch and a "High Country Colorado" gift basket. Keep checking back.

I'm excited about Zac and Jen's story. I hope you will enjoy it, too!
